Privacy & Terms

Privacy Policy

Historic Buck Run Farm, home to JPs Bikini Bottom Animal Sanctuary ("we," "us," or "our"), operates the website located at historicbuckrunfarm.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to it. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. When you submit an inquiry, we collect your name, email address, and your message. If you choose to dedicate a donation, we collect the name, email address, and dedication note you enter. If you ask to be told when an item is back in stock, we collect the email address you give us for that purpose. These fields are optional except where marked, and we only ask for what we need to reply to you.

Payment information. Donations and merchandise orders are processed by PayPal, which also handles Venmo and debit or credit card payments. Payment takes place in PayPal's own checkout window. We never see, handle, or store your card number or financial account details. PayPal processes that information under its own privacy policy.

Order and delivery information. For merchandise orders, PayPal provides us with the delivery address and contact details we need in order to post your order to you, together with the items and sizes purchased. We use this to fulfil your order and for our own records.

Recurring donations. If you set up a monthly donation, PayPal creates a recurring payment agreement and tells us that it exists so we can acknowledge your support. The payment method itself stays with PayPal.

Automatically collected data. Our host records standard server log information when you visit, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the page that referred you. We also use Google Analytics to measure Site usage, described in section 2 below. Content embedded from third parties — the map on our Inquire page, and the typefaces used across the Site — is requested by your browser directly from those providers, which means they receive your IP address as part of serving it.

2. Cookies, Local Storage, and Tracking

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used — which pages people visit, how they arrived, and roughly where in the world they are. It sets cookies in your browser so that a returning visitor is not counted as a new one. We use this only to see what is useful to people and what is not.

We have deliberately turned off Google's advertising and cross-device features, so the data is not used to build an advertising profile of you or to follow you across other websites. We do not run any advertising service, and we do not sell or share this data. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, the Site does not load analytics at all.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely, on every site that uses it, with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Local storage. The Site uses your browser's local storage for one purpose: remembering what you have put in your shopping cart, so it is still there if you move between pages or come back later. That information stays in your browser, is not transmitted to us, and is cleared when you complete an order or clear your browser's site data.

Other third-party cookies. PayPal sets cookies when its payment window is opened, for fraud prevention and to operate checkout. The embedded map on our Inquire page is served by Google and may set cookies when that page is viewed. Those cookies are governed by those companies' own privacy policies. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may prevent checkout or the map from working.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To process, acknowledge, and receipt donations, including recurring monthly donations
  • To fulfil, post, and keep records of merchandise orders
  • To respond to inquiries submitted through the Site
  • To send tax receipts and donation confirmations
  • To let you know when an item you asked about is available, if you requested that
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site
  • To comply with legal and nonprofit recordkeeping obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with the following providers in connection with operating the Site. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

  • Netlify — website hosting and form submission handling (netlify.com/privacy)
  • GitHub — source code hosting, automated deployment, and scheduled content updates (GitHub Privacy Statement)
  • PayPal — payment processing for donations and merchandise, including Venmo and card payments, recurring donations, and delivery address collection (PayPal Privacy Policy)
  • Adobe Fonts — serves the typefaces used across the Site (Adobe Privacy Policy)
  • Google Analytics — measures how the Site is used (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Google Maps — the embedded map on our Inquire page (Google Privacy Policy)

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Donation and order records are retained in accordance with IRS nonprofit recordkeeping requirements.

6. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@historicbuckrunfarm.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Historic Buck Run Farm website located at historicbuckrunfarm.com. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Use of the Site

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You may not use the Site to transmit spam, malware, or any content that is unlawful, harmful, or deceptive.

2. Donations

Historic Buck Run Farm is home to JPs Bikini Bottom Animal Sanctuary, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 85-4059462). All donations made through the Site are voluntary contributions to the Sanctuary and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Official charitable receipts are provided upon request.

Where a contribution includes goods or services — such as a stay at The Farmhouse, or the event access described in Benefactor packages — the fair market value of those benefits is not deductible; the remainder is, and is receipted accordingly. Donor benefits are subject to availability and to the terms communicated at the time of donation.

Monthly donations. Choosing a monthly donation creates a recurring payment agreement with PayPal, which will charge the amount you selected each month until it is cancelled. You can view, change, or cancel it at any time from the automatic payments section of your own PayPal account, or by contacting us and we will cancel it for you. Cancelling stops future payments; it does not refund payments already made.

Donations are processed by PayPal. By donating, you agree to the applicable terms of that processor. We are not responsible for errors or issues arising from third-party payment systems.

3. Merchandise Orders

Prices are shown in US dollars and are subject to change. Shipping within the United States is charged at a flat rate per order, shown in your cart before you pay; we do not currently ship outside the United States. Sales tax is applied where required by law.

Items are made in small runs and stock is limited. We may mark an item or a size as sold out at any time, and we reserve the right to cancel an order and refund it in full if an item turns out to be unavailable after you have paid.

Returns and refunds. All sales are final. If your order arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered, contact us within 30 days of delivery at info@historicbuckrunfarm.com and we will replace it or refund it. We do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind or incorrect size, so please check the sizing noted on each product page before ordering.

Merchandise purchases are not donations and are not tax-deductible.

4. Inquiries and Communications

Submitting an inquiry through the Site does not create a binding agreement or reservation. All event access is subject to availability and confirmation by Historic Buck Run Farm in writing.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, graphics, and design — is the property of Historic Buck Run Farm or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content without our prior written permission.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Historic Buck Run Farm shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

9. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
